Featured Board Member: Abhishek Raut (SOC Alumni)

We have fond memories of Abhishek from his days as a student when he led volunteer groups as part of our student leaders team, and since then, we’ve been inspired by his service across the globe. We’re grateful he has returned this fall to serve on the Student Open Circles board, bringing his skills and wisdom to this work.

Abhishek Raut

During my time in Medical School, I volunteered twice a week with Student Open Circles. Those experiences profoundly shaped who I am today, teaching me the value of connecting service with reflection. I later joined the Board to help carry forward its legacy—supporting children, families, people with disabilities, and isolated seniors, while fostering spaces where students grow as compassionate leaders. I’ve seen firsthand how these threads of connection change lives—for the community and for students themselves. Every gift strengthens this vital work, and I’d be grateful if you joined me in supporting it.

Since graduation, Abhishek has continued to make a difference through his work as a Family Physician and Medical Director at Appletree Medical Group. He is deeply committed to grassroots, community led health systems change and has contributed to national and international projects in partnership with Johns Hopkins University, USAID, the World Bank, and Ministries of Health across multiple African and Caribbean nations.
